Improving student life with a focus on sustainability
The Vicewersal is a historic building on the University of Zielona Góra B Campus in Poland. As part of the university’s sustainability strategy, this student residence building is being redeveloped. Dobroplast supplied some of the windows for this new project that is designed to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and improve living and learning conditions for students.
Reducing energy consumption
The modernisation project is aligned with several principles of sustainable development. For example, it has been
carried out with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption. It has also adapted existing spaces to minimise the need for new construction.
In the main four-storey building, students live in modular student apartments with kitchenettes and bathrooms. In this building, 196 energy-efficient windows from the Dobroplast Investline series were installed. These windows are highly efficient with a U-value of 0.9 W/m2K. This will significantly improve thermal insulation, reduce heating costs and improve indoor comfort for the students.
From cafeteria to gym
To support a healthy lifestyle and create a balance between learning and physical activity, the former cafeteria has been converted into a modern gym with full sanitary facilities. This building now also has common facilities for students such as laundry and drying rooms and functional quiet spaces for individual study.
Once the refurbishment is complete in the autumn 2025, Vicewersal will become a state-of-the-art University of Zielona Góra student residence. The completion of this project underlines the university’s commitment to sustainability and student comfort and well-being.
