Sustainability has been an integral part of our business and the way we work since 1941. In 1965, our founder Villum Kann Rasmussen formulated this sustainable business philosophy as Model Company objectives. These objectives speak directly to people, planet and prosperity, identifying the desire to create products that benefit society, treat all employees and stakeholders better than most companies, and enable financial independence. In this way, our continued focus on sustainability has been at the heart of our company for more than 75 years.
Our focus on sustainability is increasingly mirroring what we see in society today. As sustainable window and door people, our work actively contributes to achieving sustainable impact and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Good health and wellbeing (SDG 3) are supported by our purpose of bringing daylight, fresh air and wellbeing into people’s everyday lives. Our products provide the opportunity to capitalize on sustainable passive energy while ensuring energy efficiency in new and renovated buildings (SDG 7). Our strategic approach to sustainability also ensures sustainable consumption and production (SDG 12), as well as contributing to climate action by setting important CO2 reduction targets to limit global temperature increases (SDG 13).
Progress on meeting our sustainability targets is reported to the Global Compact on an annual basis. Our annual DOVISTA Sustainability Reports identify our sustainability progress over the previous year, as well as our targets, initiatives and strategic goals for the coming years.
DOVISTAs primary impact relates to SDG 3, 7, 12 & 13
Being family and fund owned, a significant amount of our earnings is channeled back into society through our holding company VKR Holding, and on to the VILLUM FONDEN. The VILLUM FONDEN and its associated foundations provide financial support for scientific and technical research, as well as social, cultural and environmental projects. Other affiliated foundations include VELUX STIFTUNG (Switzerland) and V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation (U.S.A.). The newest foundation in the family is the KR Foundation – a climate foundation providing support for international climate projects.
Each of DOVISTA’s employees has played a part in enabling the VILLUM FONDEN and its sister foundations to distribute more than 15 billion DKK over the years. Projects supported by the VILLUM FONDEN often incorporate the relationship between nature and humans, striving to improve the balance between them. This balance has drastically shifted in our lifetime, the consequences of which are being felt all over the world. At DOVISTA, we understand that this necessitates thinking and acting in new ways.
At DOVISTA, we will participate actively in building a future where business and sustainability go hand in hand, making windows part of the solution.
